Tulum is one of the nicest ruins around souther Mexico. It is very easy to go there, and tourists seem to enjoy this place a lot because of its easy access. Unlike Chichen Itza, which is a 3 hour ride from Playa del Carmen, Tulum is just 30 minutes by taxi. The ruins have nice local restaurants with good fish tacos around, and there's also a beach right by the ruins where you can go relax and stare at the unbelievable beauty of the place. Green grass, blue skies and water, white sand, and an archeological site by the beach! It is a great place to visit. Make sure you get a guide at the entrance, it is worth knowing the few mayan secrets we know about this place. The natural reef barrier that protects the site is the reason why it is still conserved, otherwise, like most mayan cities by the sea, it would have disappeared because of erosion a long time ago. But there is something special about Tulum, and that is the reason why it is the only one still standing. Go visit, you'll love it... ![]() |
