Madeira Carnival! Spending Carnival break in Madeira was incredible, I got to see my first celebration of this kind, and it was beautiful and so much fun to photograph. Most of the first pictures are portraits of people while they were waiting for carnival to start. Thousands of kids in cute costumes were walking around, and it was just great to be able to capture their expressions and movements. On the first day of carnival, dressing up as a drag queen is very popular , and wearing a mask is a must. Fireworks marked the beginning of the parade, and you could see how happy and excited people were to take part of an event like this. Once the parade started, thousands of people perfectly coordinated, paraded the streets of Funchal (Madeira's capital). The pictures came out with so much movement and they captured the feeling of Carnival very well. Unfortunately my camera's battery died half way through... and I wish I could have taken more pictures of the parade itself... but still, Im very happy with the results, enjoy these pics :) |
